Metropolitan Machinery is undergoing some amazing changes and is facing exciting challenges with the current world environment. As Chad Norsworthy manages these challenges with an enthusiastic approach, we feel it’s time to show you some of the people behind the scenes.

Fresh into the role of Service Manager we welcomed Steven Smith to the Metropolitan Machinery family in January this year. Peter has spent some time showing him the ropes and we have watched as Steve has stepped up to the plate and is finding his groove in the business. The workshop team are going from strength to strength with our team firmly established.

Recently locating to the northern parts of Adelaide, Steve comes to us with a wealth of experience. He has owned and operated an automotive dismantling yard, with mechanical workshop, for 12 years. He set up and ran the mechanical workshop for Belair Turf, whilst looking after and maintaining the turf equipment for 4 years. He was employed by Adelaide University where he taught mechanical engineering for 9 years.

Steve has restored veteran, vintage and classic cars and motor bikes in Australia’s Premiere Restoration Company for 3 years. He has a passion for restoring vintage BSA motorcycles. With a long background of mechanical engineering and 3 trades (welder, mechanic, basic machinery & engineering) we welcome Steve’s expertise to our Team.

Steve is supported by an experienced and knowledgeable team of 4 Mechanics, an engineering Technician and our beloved yardman/delivery driver. With technical training being part of their role, our Workshop team continually update their skills.

We recognise that our customers need reliable equipment and minimal down time. We're here to help. When our customers need help, we have our highly trained technicians to assist, either in person, onsite, or remotely.

Arriving at work and opening the gates, being one of the first to arrive and surveying the yard is just one of the moments that Arron uses to start his day with his best foot forward. After working as a tradesman in a workshop, he accepted an offer to complete an adult apprenticeship as a Mechanic, and now has over 33 years of experience. Having previously worked with Metropolitan Machinery for 11 years, and after 8 years with another of our customers running their workshop, Arron returned to us almost 2 years ago, with the knowledge that our workshop focusses on the machines being our customers livelihood.

With a cheeky sense of humour, Norton takes it all in his stride. Having worked as a Mechanic for the Council in Cape Town, He arrived in Australia in the late 80s. He has since had vast experience in different industries in that time, including as a Marine Engineer in Port Lincoln, working on the Tuna farms, the mines at Roxby Downs and on the Murray Princess. Norton is married with 3 adult sons and enjoys exploring the country in his caravan. At work he enjoys the vast variety of the different sites and operators he gets to meet.

After having worked for John Deere in Country NSW, Baz moved to Adelaide with his young family. Having had experience with IT before becoming qualified as a Diesel Mechanic, Baz has been with us for nine years, giving him close to 12 years experience with the John Deere Brand. Baz is our youngest Trade Qualified Mechanic, and has the longest continuous service with us, but chasing up to him is our apprentice Cody.

Our fourth-year Apprentice, Cody grew up in the Gawler/Barossa area and is the first of his family to pursue a trade qualification. In his personal time Cody enjoys working on and spending time with other Subaru enthusiasts. With this extracurricular experience, Cody is excelling in his course work and looks forward to achieving that qualification later this year.

Joe is a qualified fitter and turner, for 18 years he owned and operated Diesel Exhaust Systems, he has worked as a removalist, installed carport & garages. Joe is married with 5 adult children and enjoys working on and driving his Street Machine, he has even driven it in weddings. Joe fits up the new machines and works on those little extras that are required for the customers.

Luigi is an experienced jack of all trades and helps out in the yard on the forklift, assembling machines, driving our Truck to collect or deliver machines and keeps us all entertained with his quirky quips that we are delighted with regularly. Rounding out our workshop team, Lui works closely with our Sales and Service teams to facilitate a smooth service for our Customers.
